Introduction

The hypothesis that the Great Pyramid encodes mathematical and astronomical constants from a "lost" predecessor civilization is a staple of alternative history. Proponents point to the sudden appearance of complex engineering and geodetic knowledge in the Fourth Dynasty as evidence of an inherited blueprint. However, mainstream archaeologists maintain that these features are the result of centuries of internal development, tracing the architectural evolution from the mastabas of the Early Dynastic period through the structural experiments of the Step and Bent pyramids.
Skeptics argue that finding mathematical constants like Pi or the Golden Ratio in the pyramid's dimensions is often a result of "data mining"—applying various units of measurement until a desired ratio appears. Furthermore, no archaeological evidence of a technologically advanced pre-dynastic culture has been discovered in the Nile Valley or surrounding regions to support the theory of an outside influence. We are following the leads of recent excavations in the Delta and comparing the earliest stone-working techniques to the Giza standards.
