Introduction

The Phaistos Disk is a clay disk from Crete covered in stamped symbols arranged in a spiral, whose function remains undeciphered. This project compares the disk to the Lead Plaque of Magliano, investigating whether it served as a ritual document or perhaps a complex board game. The manufacture and spatial design of the disk offer clues into the specialized communication methods of the Minoan world.
