Amritsari Fish

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets (sole or tilapia)
  • 2 tbsp besan
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt
  • oil for deep frying

Method

  1. Making — Make batter with besan, rice flour, ajwain, chili, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, lemon, salt, and enough water for thick coating.
  2. Coating — Coat fish fillets; rest 30 min.
  3. Deep frying — Deep fry in hot oil at 175°C (350°F) until golden and crisp, ~4 min per side.
  4. Serving — Serve with mint chutney and chaat masala.
