Cacık (Turkish Yogurt Dip)

Cacık is the direct Turkish cousin of Greek tzatziki and Indian raita — all sharing a common Eurasian pastoral food lineage.

Ingredients

  • 500g thick strained yogurt
  • 1 large cucumber grated and squeezed
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried mint
  • salt
  • optional: dill

Method

  1. Mixing — Mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, mint, salt.
  2. Step 2 — Thin with small amount of water if desired as a soup (chilled).
  3. Drizzling — Drizzle with olive oil to serve. Serve cold.
