Mint-cilantro Chutney

Fresh chutneys (chatni = licked) pre-date recorded history in South Asia — a living culinary tradition.

Ingredients

  • 60 g fresh mint leaves
  • 60 g fresh cilantro
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 in ginger
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Method

  1. Blending — Blend all ingredients to smooth paste, using minimum water.
  2. Step 2 — Adjust salt and lemon. Store refrigerated up to 5 days.
