An international conference organized by the Latvian National Museum of History and the Interdisciplinary Research Incubator 'The Beginnings of Latvia,' launching a four-year series (2026–2029) on communities as dynamic forces in social, political, and economic life across the Baltic Sea region. The first conference focuses on prehistoric societies, inviting contributions on community formation, kinship, ethnicity, migration, and intercultural contact as approached through archaeology, archaeogenetics, isotopic analysis, and historical linguistics. Sessions run 29–30 October 2026 in Riga, with selected contributions considered for publication in a conference proceedings volume.

The National History Museum of Latvia (Latvijas Nacionālais vēstures muzejs) is one of the oldest and largest museums in Latvia, founded in 1869. Its collections preserve and present the cultural and natural heritage of Latvia from the earliest human settlements through the present day, with significant holdings in archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, and art. The museum plays a central role in researching, documenting, and communicating Latvia's historical and cultural legacy to both the national and international public.
