Join the Department of History’s Second Year Research Seminar: Textiles as Sources. Explore linen and cotton in Eurasian history at our engaging Public History Showcase.
Textiles have been an integral part of human history. As ubiquitously created and widely traded, exchanged and consumed objects, they are ideally suited for local as well as global historical investigations.
This event will present the research and public history outputs of the students of the Second Year Research Seminar – Textiles as Sources: Linen and Cotton in Eurasian History. The work you will see is the culmination of a year-long study of linen and cotton textiles from a historical perspective. Students have examined textile making techniques, including processing, spinning and weaving, as well as techniques related to their printing, dyeing and other forms of ornamentation.Key Speaker: Charlie Bourne, Ana-Maria Mihele, Billy McCann, Laila Omar Abbas
