- Ingredients
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tbsp. horehound
- ⅔ c. boiling water
- 1⅓ c. water
- ½ tsp. cream of tartar
- Directions
1.
Pour boiling water over horehound and steep 5 minutes.
2.
Strain through fine cloth.
3.
Add sugar and remaining water and cream of tartar.
4.
Boil to 300°F. or hard crack.
5.
Pour at once into buttered pans. Do not scrape kettle.
6.
Mark in small squares.
