Ingredients

• 1 c. sugar
• 4 tbsp. fat
• 1 c. boiling water
• 1 egg
• 6 tbsp. ground chocolate
• ½ tsp. soda
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1½ c. flour
• ¼ tsp. salt

Directions

1. Boil chocolate and ½ cup water together until creamy—about 2 minutes. Cool.
2. Cream fat and sugar.
3. Beat egg and add to above.
4. Add chocolate mixture.
5. Add flour sifted with baking powder and salt.
6. Add soda to ½ cup boiling water.
7. Stir into mixture and beat well.
8. Bake in 2 layers. (A thin batter.)
